Overview of Belzona 5231
Belzona 5231 (SG Laminate) is a 2-part epoxy coating for floor protection that provides excellent chemical and abrasion resistance, with a durable non-slip aggregate built into the system.
This 100% solids material can be easily mixed and applied by roller on a range of rigid surfaces including concrete and steel, and reduces downtime due to its fast-curing properties.
Belzona 5231 is available in light gray, gray, or bright yellow for improved safety in potentially dangerous areas. Thanks to its low odor, it is well suited to environments such as hospitals, schools, kitchens, and production facilities.
Typical applications include workshops, industrial and storage facilities, stairs, manufacturing plants, bridges, chemical storage, and secondary containment areas.
Key Benefits
Offering outstanding chemical and abrasion resistance, this system protects floors for the long-term.
Belzona 5231 provides a seamless, slip-resistant solution that can reduce slips further by incorporating aggregate, available in bright colors for visibility.
Offering outstanding chemical and abrasion resistance, this system protects floors for the long-term.

Frequently Asked Questions
What surfaces can Belzona 5231 be applied to?
Belzona 5231 is designed for application to a range of rigid substrates including concrete, steel, and other suitable surfaces. New concrete should be allowed to cure for a minimum of 28 days, and laitance must be removed prior to application. The substrate must be clean, firm, and dry.
What is the cure schedule for Belzona 5231?
At 68°F (20°C), Belzona 5231 supports light pedestrian traffic in 5 hours, full traffic or loading in 10 hours, and chemical contact in 5 days. At 50°F (10°C) those times extend to 10 hours, 24 hours, and 7 days respectively. The product should not be applied below 41°F (5°C).
What is the slip resistance of Belzona 5231?
As supplied with the standard aggregate, Belzona 5231 achieves an average PTV of 33 wet and 81 dry when tested in accordance with ASTM E303. Slip resistance can be further improved by incorporating additional anti-slip aggregate such as Belzona 9221, with PTV values rising to 40 wet and 82 dry, exceeding the safety standard minimum PTV of 36.
