Frequently Asked Questions

What is Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal) used for?

Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal) is a ceramic-filled epoxy fluid coating designed for the protection of metal surfaces against erosion-corrosion and chemical attack. It is widely used on pumps, fan blades, valves, heat exchangers, and other equipment exposed to flowing fluids.

How is Belzona 1321 applied?

Belzona 1321 is a fluid-grade material applied by brush or roller as a protective coating. It is typically applied in two coats, with the second coat applied within the overcoat window specified in the IFU. Surface preparation by abrasive blasting to a near-white finish is recommended for optimal adhesion.

What chemicals does Belzona 1321 resist?

Belzona 1321 has excellent chemical resistance against a broad range of chemicals including dilute acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and hydrocarbons. Refer to the Belzona Chemical Resistance Chart for specific data on individual chemicals and concentrations.
