Overview
Keel coolers and box coolers exchange engine heat directly to the surrounding seawater, exposing the tube bank to chloride attack, biofouling growth, and cavitation at the ship-hull interface where wake turbulence is highest. Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal) coats the cooler tubes and end covers with ceramic-filled corrosion protection at full seawater immersion; Belzona 2141 (ACR-Fluid Elastomer) lines the upstream zones where cavitation damage is the dominant failure mode. The system installs during the annual dry-dock window with no replacement of the cooler bundle.
