Frequently Asked Questions

What is Belzona 1341 (Supermetalglide) used for?

Belzona 1341 (Supermetalglide) is a 2-part epoxy coating engineered to improve the efficiency of pumps, pipework, and other fluid-handling equipment. It provides a smooth, low-friction surface that reduces turbulence and improves flow, while also protecting against erosion-corrosion.

How does Belzona 1341 improve pump efficiency?

Belzona 1341 delivers a smooth, hydrophobic surface that reduces the friction between fluid and substrate. This decreases turbulent flow losses inside pumps and pipework, allowing equipment to deliver greater throughput with the same energy input — typical efficiency gains have been documented in independent and field testing.

How is Belzona 1341 applied?

Belzona 1341 is applied by brush in two coats over a properly prepared metal substrate. Abrasive blast cleaning to a near-white finish is required to achieve the surface profile and cleanliness needed for adhesion. Application timing must respect the working life and overcoat window specified in the Instructions for Use.
