Heat exchanger water boxes

Common industries: General Maintenance, Oil and Gas Industry, Chemical Industry

Overview

Waterboxes take the inlet jet from the cooling water pump and turn it through 90 to 180 degrees before delivery to the tube bundle, concentrating erosion-corrosion on partition plates, division bars, and the box floor where flow stagnates. Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal) is the ceramic-filled coating rated for continuous immersion to 140°F (60°C), the standard service temperature on most cooling waterboxes; Belzona 1391T extends the rating to 248°F (120°C) for higher-temperature service. Both apply during the same outage as tube-sheet refurbishment, with no welding inside the box.

About Heat Exchangers

Galvanic corrosion at dissimilar-metal joints, erosion at tube inlets, and chemical attack on water-side internals are the dominant failure modes on industrial heat exchangers. Belzona supplies a graded family of coatings and composites to rebuild lost wall thickness and electrically isolate the tube bundle from the water-box wall.
