Overview of Belzona 4311

Belzona 4311 (Magma CR1) is a high-performance, two-component barrier coating with outstanding resistance to a broad range of chemicals, especially acids and alkalis. The system isolates concrete and metal substrates from deteriorating chemical environments, with weight loss less than 0.2% in 98% sulfuric acid (7 days at 20°C/68°F).

Suitable for use as a brush- or spray-applied barrier coating on acid-retaining walls, chemical drains and channels, tanks, pump bases and casings, walkways (with non-slip aggregate), and tank pads. The 1.5 L unit covers 64.6 sq.ft. (6.0 m²) and the 10 L unit covers 430 sq.ft. (40 m²) at the recommended 10 mil (250 micron) DFT per coat. Force-cured at 80°C (176°F) for 4 hours for optimum chemical resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a chemical-resistant coating?

Belzona engineers chemical-resistant coatings, which are epoxy-based liquid or paste-grade coatings that provide a barrier between harsh acids and alkalis and the substrate. The coating protects the substrate from chemical attack and endures the chemical attack instead. Belzona 4311 (Magma CR1) is a high-performance brushable coating that delivers excellent resistance against a broad range of chemicals.

What is the mixing ratio of Belzona 4311 (Magma CR1)?

The mixing ratio of the high-performance coating, Belzona 4311 (Magma CR1), is 6 : 1 (Base : Solidifier) by weight and 3 : 1 (Base : Solidifier) by volume. Please see the Product Specification Sheet (PSS) for more information.

How do you apply Belzona 4311 (Magma CR1)?

To apply the anti-corrosion coating, Belzona 4311 (Magma CR1), the surface must be clean, firm, and dry, free of rust, paint, and other surface coatings and contaminants. Condition the area using Belzona 4911 (Magma TX Conditioner). To mix the material, add the entire contents of the Belzona 4311 Solidifier component to the Base unit and mix thoroughly until a completely homogeneous liquid is achieved. Apply using a short-bristled brush or squeegee to the prepared surface. A second coat can be applied as soon as possible without disturbing the first coat. Please see the Instructions for Use (IFU) for more information.
