Our approach

Cold-applied & in-situ

Systems go on cold, on-site — no hot work, no flame, minimal downtime.

Supplied + applied

Take the materials, the trained application, or both — from one local team.

24-hour support

Emergency response across Louisiana, around the clock.

Authorized distributor

Genuine Belzona systems with full technical and warranty backing.

Outside the strictly regulated reactor pressure vessel and primary circuit, nuclear plants run extensive cooling, auxiliary, and balance-of-plant systems that face corrosion, erosion, chemical attack, and structural degradation. Belzona repair composites and protective coatings restore and protect these assets cold and in situ — without hot work or extended outages — in ASTM Service Level II and Service Level III areas outside primary containment.

What drives the decision

In a nuclear facility, maintenance outside primary containment is governed by how a coating is classified — ASTM D5144 assigns Service Levels by location, exposure, and safety significance. Belzona materials are applied in Service Level II and III environments, supporting maintenance and life-extension across non-safety-critical and safety-related systems.

Choosing the system

Belzona's value in nuclear maintenance is the method as much as the material: systems are applied cold, avoiding hot-work permits; repairs are made in situ, which minimises or eliminates equipment removal and the downtime that comes with it; and the cured systems offer long-term resistance to corrosion, erosion, and chemical degradation. Manufactured under an ISO 9001 quality system for consistent quality and traceability, these product families support maintenance across PWR, BWR, PHWR / CANDU, AGR, and emerging SMR designs.

01Cooling water and heat-transfer systems

Service-water and cooling systems face corrosion, erosion, and microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC). Belzona protective coatings restore and protect these surfaces against all three, extending the service life of the cooling and service-water systems without taking them out for replacement.

02Pumps, valves, and associated pipework

Erosion damage, casing defects, and leakage on pumps, valves, and pipework are repaired in situ, minimising or eliminating the need to remove equipment from service. Cold-applied composites rebuild the metal back to profile, and the repair is completed without the hot work a weld repair would require.

03Condensers and heat exchangers

Protective coating systems improve the corrosion resistance and hydraulic efficiency of condensers and heat exchangers. The coatings restore performance without removing the equipment from service.

04Storage tanks and bunded areas

Tanks and bunded areas need long-term corrosion protection in both fully immersed and exposed conditions. Belzona immersion-grade linings and external coatings protect these assets and seal secondary containment against the treatment chemicals used across the plant.

05Concrete and structural assets

Cracked or chemically attacked concrete is repaired and protected with cold-cure coating systems, guarding these concrete and structural assets against further environmental and chemical attack.

06Flanges, joints, and leak sealing

Cold-applied sealing systems stop leakage at flanges, joints, and pipework and allow a rapid return to service. Because the seal is applied cold, the repair avoids the hot-work permit a conventional fix would require.
