Tank base water ingress prevention

Common industries: Water and Wastewater Industry, Chemical Industry, Petrochemical Industry

Overview

Water ingress at the tank-to-foundation rim is the dominant cause of underside corrosion on aboveground storage tanks, attacking the floor plate from beneath the rim seal and accelerating during every rain cycle that follows. Belzona 3111 (Flexible Membrane) is the cold-applied flexible coating that bridges the steel-to-concrete transition and seals the rim against capillary uptake; Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade) reinforces the inside chime where product-side splash compounds the corrosion. The system applies during routine API 653 inspection windows with no tank emptying or foundation work.

About Tanks & Chemical Containment Areas

Tank and containment work is governed by the chemistry inside the tank and the regulatory line in the spec sheet: WRAS for potable water, NSF for drinking-water contact, immersion-rated chemical compatibility for process fluids. Belzona offers a graded family of linings to meet each constraint without changing applicators or surface prep approach.
