Overview of Belzona 1821
A two-component fluid grade material based on silicon steel alloy blended within high molecular weight reactive polymers and oligomers. Belzona 1821 (Fluid Metal) is designed for creating positive grip surfaces on machinery and equipment by bonding Belzona Supergrip or Surefoot aggregate to the substrate, producing durable non-slip surfaces with excellent adhesion, wear and chemical resistance. Also serves as a high strength structural adhesive and casting material.
Key Benefits
Outstanding resistance to erosion damage in flowing fluid and abrasive environments
Excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals including aqueous solutions, hydrocarbons, and process chemicals
Outstanding resistance to corrosion in salt spray and chemical environments
Easy to mix and apply without specialist tools
100% solids formulation reduces health and safety risks in confined spaces with no shrinkage on cure

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Belzona 1821 (Fluid Metal) used for?
Belzona 1821 (Fluid Metal) is a 2-part fluid-grade material used as a binder to bond Belzona Supergrip or Surefoot anti-slip aggregate to metal substrates, creating durable non-slip surfaces on tank tops, walkways, vehicle step-ups, fire escapes, brake test rollers, and similar equipment.
How does Belzona 1821 create non-slip surfaces?
Belzona 1821 is applied as a fluid coating, then anti-slip aggregate (Belzona Supergrip or Surefoot) is broadcast into the wet resin. After cure, the aggregate is locked into the resin matrix, creating a durable textured surface that provides positive grip even when wet or oily.
What corrosion protection does Belzona 1821 provide?
Belzona 1821 has excellent corrosion resistance — no visible corrosion after 5,000 hours of salt spray exposure (ASTM B117) — and is resistant to inorganic acids and alkalis at concentrations up to 20%, hydrocarbons, mineral oils, and lubricating oils.
